Drone Map Netherlands

Check the Airspace for your project location.

Our interactive drone map of the Netherlands allows you to quickly and easily check if your drone flight falls within a special airspace, such as Controlled Airspace (CTR), Radio Mandatory Zone (RMZ), or other high-risk zones.

How Does the Drone Map Work?

  1. Search for Your Location Go to the search bar at the top left of the page and enter the location of your project. Then, select the desired location from the list that appears below.
  2. Navigate to the Specified Location: The map will now automatically navigate to the specified location. Wait until the page has finished loading.
  3. Check the Markings: Check the map and look for red and blue circles. Red circles indicate that additional permits are required for your drone flight, which may involve extra costs. For more information, you can click on the circles.

What do we do in the following areas:

A Controlled Traffic Region (CTR) is a specific airspace where air traffic control is responsible for managing air traffic. This type of airspace is often associated with large airports and busy flying areas. Drone flights within a CTR are subject to strict rules to ensure the safety of the airspace. Here are the steps we must follow:
  1. Making a Flight Plan: Before flying within a CTR, you must prepare a detailed flight plan. This plan includes information about your departure and arrival points, the intended flight path, the maximum flight altitude and other relevant details.
  2. Submit to Traffic Control: The flight plan you have drawn up must be submitted to local air traffic control. This will allow them to be aware of your intended drone flight, allowing them to coordinate air traffic effectively.
  3. Radio Communication: During the entire flight within the CTR, there must be constant radio contact with air traffic control. Perfect-Drone has specially licensed personnel who are authorized to communicate with air traffic control and other aircraft, which guarantees smooth cooperation.
  4. Professional Guidance: At Perfect-Drone we have specialists with the necessary licenses to communicate with air traffic control and other aviation authorities. These experts will guide you through the process, ensure compliance with regulations and contribute to the safety of your drone flight within a CTR.
Remember that adhering to these procedures is crucial for safe and legal drone flight within controlled airspace. If you have any doubts or questions, our specialist team at Perfect-Drone is here to help and ensure that your drone operations comply with all relevant regulations.
A Restricted Mandatory Zone (RMZ) is a specific airspace where the use of radio communication is mandatory for aircraft, including drones. For Perfect-Drone, it is of utmost importance to adhere to these regulations and ensure that all drone flights within an RMZ are conducted safely and legally. Here are the steps we take to operate within an RMZ:
  1. Drawing up a flight plan: Before operating within an RMZ, we prepare a detailed flight plan. This includes information about the intended departure and arrival points, the planned flight route, the proposed flight altitude, and other relevant details.
  2. Submit to RMZ Authorities: The prepared flight plan is submitted to the authorities responsible for the RMZ. This ensures they are informed about our intended drone flight, allowing them to coordinate air traffic appropriately.
  3. Continuous Radio Communication: Throughout the entire flight within the RMZ, we maintain constant radio contact with the appropriate authorities. At Perfect-Drone, we have specialized personnel with the required licenses to communicate effectively with air traffic control and other aviation entities.
  4. Note for Military Airfields: For locations such as military airfields, it is essential to request a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM). This notification informs all aviation participants about relevant information, ensuring the safe coexistence of air activities.
  5. Professionalism Guaranteed: Our experts at Perfect-Drone guide the process from start to finish, ensuring compliance with all regulations and contributing to safe and legal drone flights within the RMZ.
Safety and compliance are paramount at Perfect-Drone. By strictly following the procedures within an RMZ, we can ensure a smooth and authorized drone operation within these zones. Our specialized team is always ready to assist and ensure that your drone activities comply with all relevant regulations.
What is a Temporary Restricted Area (TRA)?
  • A temporarily restricted airspace established for a specific period of time.
  • May be activated due to events, exercises or other situations affecting regular aviation operations.
How Perfect-Drone Does It:
  1. In-depth Analysis: We perform a thorough analysis of all available NOTAMs (Notice to Airmen) and relevant aviation information to stay informed of active TRAs.
  2. Flight Plan Adjustment: For each drone flight within a TRA, we adjust our flight plan to comply with applicable restrictions and regulations.
  3. Request Permission: If necessary, we request permission from the competent authorities to fly within the TRA and monitor the process closely
  4. Continue Monitoring: We continuously monitor the status of TRAs and adapt our approach based on changing circumstances.
  5. Professional Communication: Our specialized team, equipped with the appropriate licenses, maintains professional communications with air traffic control and other relevant authorities to ensure a safe drone flight.
With Perfect-Drone you are assured of a partner who is not only aware of aviation regulations, but also takes the necessary steps to fly within Temporary Restricted Areas with full compliance and responsibility. Safe and carefree flying is a priority for Perfect-Drone. Feel free to contact us for more information or to discuss your specific project.

Register drone and remote ID 2024

Under new EU rules, all drones weighing more than 250 grams or equipped with a camera must be registered with the RDW. This can be easily done via the website of the RDW. After logging in via DigiD and paying the application, you will receive the operator number by email. You must then apply this number to your drone or write it down.

As of 2024, Remote ID is also mandatory in the open category. Note: it will also become mandatory for the specific category. This means that the drone broadcasts its location in real-time, enabling authorities to monitor drone flights easily. In the future, this information is expected to be integrated into the government’s Godrone app. This app provides the drone map of the Netherlands and serves as the platform for submitting flight requests to Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL).

Drone categories

With the new drone regulations of 2024, every drone will be provided with a CX label. This label clearly indicates what is and is not allowed with the drone. If your drone is still provided with a CX label, it automatically falls under the old A3 category.

Dhis means the following:

  • Only fly in good conditions (not at night or in rain/wind) The drone may fly a maximum height of 120 meters.
  • A minimum distance of 150 metres must be kept from buildings, roads and people.
  • A minimum distance of 150 meters must be kept from buildings, roads and people.

For further information about CX labels, please visit website of the Dutch government.

General drone rules

Below are a brief summary of the general drone rules that apply to flying a drone.

  • Only fly in good conditions (not at night or in rain/wind) The drone may fly a maximum height of 120 meters.
  • Do not fly over people, roads, vehicles or buildings!
  • The drone must be kept in sight at all times (Visual Line of Sight). Only fly in good conditions (not at night or rain/wind)
  • Always consider the privacy of others
